It is difficult to look at the environment today without noticing our footprint. We have created an inextricable bond with our landscape and it seems that we constantly try to adapt it to our needs. By searching to understand the complex links that exist between key elements of the environment, it has become interesting to me to find out how we might alter natural cycles and occurrences through technology.

La Zone Grise

La zone grise est un espace qui se situe entre le contraste du noir et blanc. C’est une zone où tout est possible sans contradiction. L’objectif est de questionner les frontières entre ces mêmes contrastes, qu’ils soient d’opinions ou techniques. Les conventions nous forcent à les briser, mais que se passe-t-il quand dans une même œuvre se trouve la règle et l’erreur?

Cet expo consiste à explorer, sous plusieurs angles, cette fameuse Zone Grise. Dans ces oeuvres, le dessin et la peinture se chevauchent, l’espace qui les séparaient est redéfini et questionné par le médium. Le traitement pictural nous transporte à travers le temps, les influences et les références artistiques jouent un rôle important dans la lecture des oeuvres . La composition, style collage, et le traitement nous ramène dans une ère contemporaine. Les thèmes restent simples et ce sont des actions qui résident dans le quotidien, c’est important pour nous de pouvoir garder un dialogue simple pour que le spectateur imagine sont propre récit.

Marco Royal Nicodemo et Zoltan Veevaete sont deux jeunes bachelier de l’université Concordia. Ils ont tous deux étudiés dans le domaine des arts visuels mais plus précisément dans la peinture et le dessin.Ils ont déjà exposé à plusieurs reprise au Québec et leurs œuvres font parti de collections privées. Cette exposition est une vitrine sur les plus récents travaux de ces artistes émergeant Montréalais.

The Grey Zone

The Grey Zone is a space situated between the contrasts of black and white. It is a zone where everything is possible without any contradictions. The goal is to question the limits of these contrasts, whether they are related to opinions or techniques. Conventions force us to try and break them, but what happens when, in the same piece of work, you find elements of both rule and error?

This show consists of exploring, from various angles, this so-called Grey Zone. In these works, drawing and painting overlap one and other, and the space which separated them is questioned and redefined by the medium. Pictural treatment transports us through time, influences and artistic references playing an important role in the lecture of the peices. Composition, use of collage, and treatment bring us back to the contemporary era. Themes are simple and the actions are camped in daily life, because it is important for us to simplify the dialogue in order to enable the observer to imagine his own story.

Marco Royal Nicodemo and Zoltan Veevaete are two recent graduates of the major in painting and drawing at concordia university. They have both had several art shows in quebec and their artworks can be found in some private collections. This show is a chance for these two emerging montreal artists to showcase their most recent works.
